The 3M Rust Fighter-I (08892) is a premium, non-hardening corrosion preventative coating specifically formulated for the interior cavities of vehicles. Also known as cavity wax, this product offers long-lasting protection against rust and corrosion in areas such as door skins, rocker panels, and frame rails. Its unique non-hardening formula remains soft and pliable, preventing cracking and peeling while providing continuous protection. The flowable consistency of this amber/brown coating allows it to penetrate tight spaces and crevices effectively. It resists washing away from water and road spray, providing a durable barrier against moisture and salt. The product is suitable for use on bare metal or primed surfaces, helping to maintain the structural integrity of vehicle components. To use, first clean and ensure the area is dry. Shake the can thoroughly and attach the extension wand if needed for hard-to-reach areas. Apply a light, even coat, ensuring complete coverage, and allow the product to penetrate and settle. For best results, apply in temperatures between 60°F and 80°F (15°C and 27°C). This cost-effective solution helps prevent rust and corrosion, extending the life of the vehicle's body and frame and avoiding expensive repairs related to rust damage.
