S12 Engine Control Unit

The Syvecs S12 Stand Alone ECU represents the pinnacle of engine management control, engineered for the most demanding and ambitious automotive builds. Its robust design is intended to withstand harsh conditions while providing the extensive Input/Output (I/O) necessary to precisely manage complex engines, including V12 platforms with full sequential fuel and ignition control for their entire operational lifespan. At its core, the S12 boasts a substantial 121-pin twin-split automotive connector, enabling its extensive capabilities. It offers 28 general-purpose inputs and 50 user-configurable PWM outputs. For ignition and injection, it provides 12 ignition coil outputs (supporting IGBT or TTL ignitors) and 24 fuel injector outputs. The unit features three full bridges, configurable as six half-bridges or six PWM outputs, with each full bridge capable of up to 20A, supporting Drive-By-Wire (DBW) and HDP-5 systems. Advanced monitoring is facilitated through dedicated inputs, including 4 knock sensors, 2 NTK wide-band Lambda interfaces, and 2 K-type thermocouple interfaces for exhaust gas temperature. Communication is versatile, with three CAN 2.0B interfaces, an RS232 serial port, and a 100 MHz full-duplex Ethernet connection for high-speed programming and data downloads. Data logging is handled via up to 128MB of flash memory, time/date stamped by a real-time clock, with fast downloads achievable in under 30 seconds. The S12 ECU is designed with intelligent sensor power management, featuring two regulated 5V supplies, a software-configurable supply (5V–12V), and an unregulated output that tracks ECU voltage. Protection is paramount, with five separately protected sensor and communication ground inputs, a wide 6V to 26V input voltage range, and built-in reverse polarity protection. The unit is housed in a durable anodised aluminium case, measuring 178 x 160 x 45 mm and weighing 670 grams, with an operating temperature range of -25 to +95°C.
