The Sundown Audio SA-10 v.3 D4 is a 10-inch shallow-mount subwoofer engineered for applications where space is limited but high-output, accurate bass is essential. Part of the SA Series v.3 lineup, this subwoofer builds upon its predecessors with an enhanced 2.75-inch voice coil diameter and an additional 5mm of length for increased linear x-max, now at 22mm one-way excursion. Its design carefully balances mass, motor force, and suspension stiffness for optimal performance at its intended power level. Compared to the v.2 series, the v.3 features taller cones and wider spiders for improved linearity and coil stability. The motor assembly incorporates a large magnet shorting ring and a pole cap faraday ring to minimize distortion and deliver a smoother response. A competition-grade paper cone, a robust foam surround, and a custom-tooled aluminum frame contribute to its durability and performance. The motor and coil setup is paired with an extremely robust multi-layer spider and fully tied-on, doubled-up 'XL' tinsel leads. The subwoofer has an x-mech limit of 41mm one-way before coil bottom, making it virtually 'bottomless'. This SA-10 v.3 D4 subwoofer is optimized for a 0.5 cubic foot sealed enclosure or a 1.0 cubic foot ported enclosure, with a recommended tuning frequency of 35Hz. Its shallow-mount design makes it ideal for trucks, compact cars, and under-seat installations, delivering punchy and precise bass. The dual 4-ohm voice coil configuration allows for wiring to either 2-ohm or 8-ohm loads, providing versatility with amplifier matching.
