Sundown Audio has led the industry in quality and performance for over a decade. The SA-10/12/15 v.2 series is a top-down upgrade from the original SA series. The 2.75” coil outperforms many 3” coils without the added weight and with the advantage of a wider spider. This allows for a perfect balance of mass, motor force, and suspension stiffness for the intended power level. The motor features a large magnet shorting ring (faraday ring) to reduce distortion and deliver smoother response across the entire acoustic spectrum. The motor & coil setup is mated to an extremely robust multi-layer spider with fully tied-on & doubled-up “XL” tinsel leads. A competition-grade paper cone, strong foam surround, and cast aluminum frame complete this masterpiece. It features ~19mm of one-way linear excursion and an x-mech limit of 37mm one-way before coil bottom, making it nearly "bottomless." The 18" model features a larger diameter motor to drive the higher mass.
