The Dart Little M2 Block, part number 31181125, is a high-strength cast iron engine block designed for Small Block Chevy (SBC) racing applications and maximum effort engines. It is engineered to accept most standard small block components, including the camshaft, oil pump, oil filter, motor mounts, mechanical fuel pump, and clutch linkage. The block features a priority main oiling system that lubricates main bearings first, and a center lifter oil crossover for improved lifter oiling. It is designed with siamese cylinder bores with extra thick walls (minimum .275” thick with 4.185” bore) to resist cracking and enhance ring seal, contributing to increased power. The lifter valley is not drilled for oil drain backs, and it incorporates a solid lifter bar design to accommodate offset and oversize lifters. Head bolt holes are blind, preventing them from extending into the water jacket. The block is equipped with billet steel 4-bolt main caps on all five mains, has a standard oil pan rail width, and features oil gallery holes machined for O-ring plugs. It also includes provisions for both wet and dry sump oiling systems, with front and rear external oil feed, crossover, and restrictor provisions for simplified plumbing with external pumps. A parts kit (PN 32000028) is included, but cam bearings are sold separately.
