Dart’s LS Next block is a significant architectural change for the LS engine platform, eliminating the “Y-block” design for conventional main caps and oil pans. This reduces windage, increases power, and strengthens the main web area. It features a simplified oil system that uses 10 fewer GPM at 5000 RPM. Cast in the USA from premium cast iron, it uses conventional 4-bolt steel main caps with 7/16” bolts and full main webbing. Cylinder barrels are extended by .375” at the bottom for greater piston support. Available in 9.240” – 9.450” deck heights, allowing an effective barrel length of 9.825”. Extra thick Siamese cylinder bores accommodate large displacement, up to a 4.200” max bore. A 5/8” thick full deck design with a 9.240” deck height and six 7/16” head bolts per cylinder provide secure clamping. Features include blind head bolt holes, provision for oil restrictors, revised low restriction priority main oiling, Pro-Stock/Pro-Mod big block style stepped main oil galley, external oil filter requirement, dual starter mounts, expanded water jacket on #1 cylinder, and LSX style lifter bosses/dog bone provision.
