SD24 Steering Damper

The Old Man Emu OMESD24 steering damper is an integral part of Old Man Emu's 4WD suspension systems, engineered to enhance the driving experience by mitigating steering wheel vibration and improving overall vehicle control. It effectively reduces the jarring rotation of the steering wheel without compromising its ability to return to center. Constructed with a heavy-gauge 1.6mm steel tube, this steering damper houses a 15mm piston rod for increased strength and a 35mm piston and bore that allows for a greater volume of oil. The internal workings are protected by a twin-tube design, shielding them from damage caused by impacts. A stone guard further protects the piston rod from potential damage from road debris. The damper utilizes a nine-stage coil spring valving system to optimize performance across various conditions and features a multi-lip seal to ensure long-term oil retention. Installation is straightforward, as original stabilizer mounts can typically be used where appropriate. The unit features an eye-with-bush upper and lower mount type, facilitating a secure connection. Its specifications include an open length of 651 mm and a closed length of 417 mm, finished in a distinctive yellow color. The OMESD24 is compatible with a range of Lexus LX450 Base 4WD (1996-1997) and Toyota Land Cruiser models (various 4WD submodels including BJ42, BJ60, BJ60LG-MK, BJ60LV-KK, BJ70, HJ60, and Base models from 1980-1997), ensuring broad application within these specific vehicle lines.
