The Amsoil SEVERE GEAR 75W-140 is a 100% synthetic gear lubricant engineered to provide advanced protection and optimal performance in demanding applications. Its formulation offers high film strength, crucial for handling high-load conditions commonly found in towing, hauling, and racing scenarios. It excels in extreme temperature conditions, controlling thermal runaway and preventing the formation of damaging acids and varnish. Additionally, it offers robust protection against rust and corrosion, extending the life of seals and equipment. Amsoil SEVERE GEAR 75W-140 is suitable for differentials, manual transmissions, and transfer cases operating under severe conditions. It meets or exceeds API GL-5, MT-1, and MIL-PRF-2105E specifications, and is compatible with other GL-5 specified fluids from Ford, GM, and Chrysler. While it is limited-slip capable and typically does not require an additional friction modifier, its mixing with conventional or synthetic gear oils is possible, though not recommended for optimal performance.
