It removes pre-turbo restrictions found in the stock intake system, utilizing a custom conical cloth air filter, a CFD-designed velocity stack, and a unique airflow straightener grid. This configuration is crucial for smoothing incoming air as it passes the Mass Air Flow sensor, ensuring precise readings and minimizing turbulence that could lead to engine management issues. Constructed from a one-piece, high-temperature plastic composite, the SF Intake is both lightweight and resistant to heat transfer. The integrated Cobb SF air box further enhances performance by isolating the intake from hot under-hood air, thereby maximizing power output and minimizing heat soak. This design not only boosts performance but also allows for a more audible and aggressive induction sound, including clearer turbo spool and bypass valve venting. It can be installed using simple hand tools by replacing the stock airbox. However, for those seeking additional power, a compatible Cobb Stage 1+ ECU map can be installed if a Cobb Accessport is present. This intake system is 50-state legal, holding a California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) number D-660-77, making it suitable for sale and use on emissions-controlled vehicles across all 50 states.
