The Mobil SHC Rarus is a supreme performance air compressor lubricant. It is primarily intended for the lubrication of severe duty rotary screw and vane air compressors. This oil is particularly suited for severe service applications subjected to high final compression temperatures or where extended oil drain intervals are desired.

These synthetic oils are specifically formulated to excel in challenging environments where conventional synthetic oil-based products may fall short, such as in applications with high final compression temperatures or when extended oil drain intervals are a priority. This formulation provides outstanding thermal and oxidation stability, offering the potential for up to three times the oil drain interval compared to a leading synthetic compressor lubricant. This extended service life translates directly into reduced maintenance downtime and increased operational efficiency. The oil's excellent varnish and sludge control further contribute to maintaining system cleanliness and prolonging the compressor oil's lifespan. Featuring high-performance synthetic base stocks with a high viscosity index, the Mobil SHC Rarus Series ensures a wide temperature range capability and effective lubrication even at elevated temperatures. The lubricant also offers exceptional resistance to rusting and corrosion, along with very good antiwear properties, demulsibility, foam control, air release, and multi-metal compatibility. Furthermore, the excellent water separability of this compressor oil helps to reduce carryover to downstream equipment, minimize sludge formation in crankcases and discharge lines, and prevent blockages in coalescers and coolers, thereby reducing the potential for emulsion formation.
