Shifter Conversion Kit

The Sequential GMT56 is a conversion kit that transforms your standard GM T56 H-pattern gearbox into a true sequential operation system. This shifter kit is exclusively designed for early GM Tremec and Borg-Warner T56 transmissions. It is compatible with VT – VZ Holden Commodores (T56 only), 4th Gen Chevrolet Camaros/Pontiac Firebirds, and Holden Monaros/Pontiac GTOs. Crucially, this version does NOT fit Ford or Dodge Viper T56 gearboxes, late-model VE/VF Commodores, 5th/6th Gen Camaros, or Tremec Magnum/Magnum F transmissions. For those applications, alternative listings are available. The sequential push/pull motion significantly enhances driver coordination under high-G loads compared to traditional H-pattern shifters. It makes it virtually impossible to select the wrong gear, preventing costly errors like accidental upshifts or downshifts that could damage the engine. Key performance benefits include: guaranteed correct gear selection, fast and consistent shifting (pull back to upshift, push forward to downshift), precise mechanical feedback to confirm gear engagement, a mechanical reverse lockout for safety, and true neutral selection between all gears. Available options and upgrades include a Gear Position Sensor for ECUs and digital dashes, a Digital Gear Indicator, and a Shifter Surround to seal the transmission tunnel. Users must carefully select between the Right Lever (12mm offset to the right, standard for most) and the Left Lever (48mm offset to the left, specialized for 4th Gen Camaros, Dodge Vipers, and specific older chassis) based on transmission tunnel clearance, not just vehicle drive position.
