This shifter provides a no-compromises solution, offering a true "top loader" feel with its solid mounting to the transmission via billet strut arms and a solid linkage rod connecting directly to the transmission. MGW offers various configurations for this shifter, including Standard and X-SPEC models, with throw reductions ranging from 15% to 25% depending on the shifter and handle (Standard or Low Profile) chosen. For example, the X-SPEC model with a Low Profile handle can achieve up to a 25% reduction in shift length compared to the stock shifter. Installation of the MGW Race Spec Shifter is designed to be more efficient than older models, with updated compact designs that can fit inside the car's oval cutout fully assembled, potentially saving 30 minutes or more off the installation time. However, it is crucial to complete the specific setting procedure outlined in the installation video to ensure proper shifter function; skipping this step will result in the shifter not working correctly. Important considerations include potential clearance issues with a 4-inch driveshaft, particularly if the vehicle has been lowered. The shifter is compatible with M12 x 1.25 thread options for 2005-2022 Mustangs (GT/V6/Ecoboost, 2007-2009 GT500) and M12 x 1.75 for 1982-2004 Mustangs (GT/V6/SVO, T56 Magnum XL). Available shift patterns include 6-speed (Reverse Upper Right/Left) and 5-speed (Reverse Lower Right), with color options of White or Black for the shift knob.
