Short Stack Intercooler System

The ZZPerformance Short Stack Intercooler System offers an affordable solution for supercharged 3800 GM engines, effectively reducing knock retard (KR) and lowering intake air temperatures. This system addresses a significant downfall of the factory supercharged 3800s by providing an intercooler that prevents post-supercharger air temperatures from skyrocketing, especially with smaller supercharger pulleys. The kit includes a ZZP CNC aluminum short stack intercooler core, a dual-pass front mount heat exchanger for efficient routing and packaging, and a ZZP S1 intercooler pump. It also comes with necessary components such as 2 Garloc supercharger gaskets, 3/4" heater hose, all hose clamps, fittings, RTV, zip ties, longer stainless bolts, and detailed installation instructions. The intercooler core itself is made in-house at ZZPerformance and raises the supercharger by only 1 inch, ensuring it fits under any hood. Installation is estimated at 5 hours, and the system is designed to retain full stock PCV and EGR functionality without requiring modifications to the hood latch. However, the kit is not a complete solution; buyers will need to separately acquire a fuel rail solution (either ZZP Injector Spacers or Billet Fuel Logs), coolant, and a new supercharger belt. Fitment is categorized into Gen 3 and Gen 5 models. Gen 3 is compatible with '97-'03 Grand Prix, '04+ Monte Carlo SS, '04+ Impala SS, and '97+ Buick Regal. Gen 5 is for 2004 and newer Grand Prix or vehicles with the Gen 5 blower retrofitted. The system allows for the elimination of existing KR or a potential 0.2" drop in pulley size if no KR is present. There is a fitment note indicating potential use in some Holden/Australian applications, but full compatibility is not guaranteed.
