The COMP Cams 875-16 Short Travel Race Hydraulic Roller Lifters are engineered to address the challenges faced by hydraulic roller lifters in high-performance engine builds. As engine builders and enthusiasts push for more aggressive cam profiles, higher valve spring pressures, and increased engine RPM, standard hydraulic lifters can become a limiting factor. Each lifter in the 875-16 set features a 0.842-inch diameter, a weight of 122 grams, and a seat height of 2.60 inches. The key innovation is their short travel design, which minimizes internal piston movement. This reduction allows the engine to achieve higher RPMs without the typical limitations associated with hydraulic lifters. The lifters are intended for Small Block Chevy 305 and 350 cubic inch engines that were originally equipped with a hydraulic roller camshaft, covering model years from 1987 to the present, including LT1 and LS series engines. For correct installation and optimal performance, it is crucial to set the lifter pre-load precisely. COMP Cams recommends setting the pre-load at zero to 1/8 of a turn of the rocker arm adjusting nut. Proper pre-load ensures consistent valve operation and longevity of the valvetrain components.
