The Eagle Specialty Products SIR connecting rods are forged I-beam rods crafted from AISI/ASME certified 5140 steel. These rods undergo a multi-stage heat treatment process to enhance strength and feature a fully shot-peened surface for improved fatigue resistance. They are designed with a traditional I-beam profile and a traditional as-forged surface. Each rod in this set of eight measures 5.956 inches in length and is equipped with a bushed pin for full-floating piston pins. The cap screws are 3/8 inch, and ARP 8740 bolts are utilized for proven reliability, with ARP Ultra-Torque Assembly lube included for consistent bolt preload. The big-end is CNC machined for precise sizing, and the pin end features an oiling hole to improve piston pin lubrication. High stress areas are reinforced for added durability. These connecting rods are recommended for naturally-aspirated, pump gas, and road car applications. Eagle emphasizes rigorous quality control, including sonic testing, magna-fluxing, and x-ray inspection, to ensure a reliable product manufactured with state-of-the-art equipment and skilled craftsmen.
