The rods are X-rayed, sonic-tested, magnafluxed, and shot-peened to stress-relieve the metal.

The Eagle Specialty Products SIR I-Beam Connecting Rods are designed as an upgrade to stock rods, offering enhanced strength and reliability for performance applications. Forged from robust 5140 steel, these rods are built to handle increased demands. Their I-beam construction contributes to a lightweight design, which helps to reduce stress on the engine's rotating assembly, thereby increasing engine longevity and improving high-rpm performance. These connecting rods undergo rigorous quality control and testing procedures. They are X-rayed, sonic-tested, magnafluxed, and shot-peened to ensure the metal is properly stress-relieved and free from defects. Each rod is equipped with 12-point ARP Wave-Lok rod bolts made from 8740 chromoly steel, known for their high tensile strength (190,000 psi). The big end sizing is precisely machined using in-house CNC equipment to guarantee accurate fitment and consistent performance. The rods are weight-matched to within two grams. Available individually, these rods are designed for specific engine applications, including Pontiac 400-455 V8 engines with a 6.625-inch center-to-center length and a floating wrist pin style. They feature a press-fit big end bore and come with ARP 7/16-inch rod bolts.
