The Ksport Slimline Big Brake Kit offers a sophisticated, bolt-on brake upgrade for the MINI R53 Cooper, designed for easy installation with minimal tools and no vehicle modifications required in most applications. This kit leverages Ksport's Slimline Caliper, which is based on OEM single-side floating piston caliper thickness, allowing it to fit most factory wheels or wheels with very limited brake clearance. It features aluminum pistons protected by heavy-duty seals capable of handling high temperatures, and an opposed-piston design for consistent brake pad grip and wear. High-temperature seals, titanium brake pad retainer clips, and stainless-steel brake pad wear plates are standard. The two-piece rotor design contributes to a lightweight system with fade-free performance and effective grip. The lightweight center sections are crafted from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, reducing rotational mass and improving brake response. The design allows the outer rotor section to expand and contract independently, reducing warping due to heat buildup, and the aluminum center sections act as heat sinks. Rotors are heat-treated and balanced for optimal performance. Cross-drilled rotors are recommended for daily driven vehicles as they run cooler than slotted rotors, while slotted rotors are recommended for track use due to their ability to wipe away heat, dust, and gases. This kit comes standard with SC5 Street Pads, which offer optimal braking performance under street and occasional track conditions, with reduced dust and noise. An upgrade to RCI Race Pads is available for those seeking maximum stopping power under extreme track conditions, though these are not recommended for street use. The kit also includes DOT-compliant stainless-steel braided brake lines, which enhance pedal response and provide a firmer pedal feel by preventing expansion under pressure. Customizable options include caliper color, center bell upgrades to titanium or twin-color anodized finishes, and the choice between street or race pads.
