Sloppy Stage 2 Billet Steel Camshaft Package

The Elgin E1840P "Sloppy Stage 2" camshaft package is constructed from billet steel and is an "original" design by Matt Happel. It's an excellent choice for budget-conscious builders seeking a proven street/strip combination. The aggressive profile results in a noticeably choppy idle and delivers strong performance from the mid to upper RPM range. Recommended pairing includes a torque converter with a stall speed of 2800 RPM or higher. This package includes a genuine Elgin E-1840-P camshaft with a 3-bolt timing gear pattern. Specifications include 283/286 degrees of intake/exhaust duration, .585" lift on both intake and exhaust, and a 112 LSA. It also comes with PAC-1218 Drop-In Beehive Spring Kit and hardened chromoly 7.400" 5/16" diameter pushrods with a .080" wall thickness. Optional components like OEM style beehive valve hat seals and a cam install gasket kit (including timing cover gasket, water pump gaskets, front crank seal, and GM crank bolt) are also available. Important installation notes indicate that the SSII camshaft requires upgraded springs and is incompatible with factory springs. The PAC1218 spring kit specifically necessitates hardened pushrods and is not compatible with factory pushrods due to the increased spring pressures.
