The STM lightweight small battery kit is engineered for the 3000GT and Stealth, offering a significant weight savings of 20 pounds over the stock battery. This reduction not only lightens the front of the vehicle, aiding in weight transfer to the rear, but also contributes to a cleaner engine bay appearance. The STM tray is precision-machined from billet aluminum and features tig-welded construction with stainless hardware, proudly made in the USA. It utilizes existing mounting points for a straightforward installation. The battery tray is offered as a standalone component or as a kit including an Odyssey PC680 battery and terminals. For optimal performance and longevity, it is crucial to torque small battery posts to 50 inch-pounds; over-torquing can cause damage. It will not support aftermarket stereo systems and performs poorly in cold temperatures. STM explicitly states they do not warranty the batteries themselves, as they are used in ways not intended by the manufacturer. However, STM provides a Lifetime Guarantee on the battery tray. The typical lifespan of the battery can range from one to ten years, and it should be treated as a maintenance item. For typical street cars with 300-600 HP, it can sit for a week and function for weekend use or daily driving in moderate temperatures (40-90°F). If stored for over two weeks or in freezing temperatures, using a battery charger is recommended. While the batteries will start the car with a functioning alternator, ignition issues can deplete the battery quickly, providing only 10-15 starting attempts. For cars stored in cold conditions for extended periods, pre-charging is essential. The kit includes the STM Battery Tray, Post Braces, stainless hardware, and mounting bolts.
