This shifter utilizes a high-precision, race-spec spherical bearing instead of the stock plastic ball and cup design.

The AKG Motorsport QS230-B is the original E30 chassis mount short shifter, engineered for reliability and precision. This fully rebuildable, bolt-on design replaces the stock shifter assembly with a CNC-machined billet aluminum unit that mounts directly to the chassis tunnel. This shifter eliminates the stock plastic ball and cup design in favor of a built-in, high-precision, race-spec spherical bearing. Constructed from 6061-T6 aluminum for the base plate and housing cup, and 7075-T6 aluminum for the shift lever, this shifter is designed for lifetime use and is fully serviceable and rebuildable. It weighs only 0.86kg and offers the shortest available throw, eliminating unwanted movement for precise shifter travel even under load. The design features a secure, fully-threaded shift knob mounting and a raised shift lever position for improved ergonomics during quick shifting. It is engineered as a direct bolt-on to the E30 chassis, requiring no alignment or drilling. A Tall (Black) or Short (White) Delrin shift knob is included. Note: Due to its solid-mount design, upgraded transmission mounts are required. This shifter is recommended for RACE/TRACK use.
