Sound Deadening Pad

The 3M 08840 Sound Deadening Pads are conformable, self-adhesive sheets engineered to enhance vehicle acoustics by suppressing unwanted noise and vibrations. These pads are ideal for application on vehicle floor pans, engine compartments, hoods, deck-lids, inside doors, and body panels, effectively quieting noise around trunks, door panels, hoods, and floor pans. Installation is straightforward, as the self-adhesive material requires no special tools beyond common household items like scissors or a knife for custom cutting. The pads fit easily around various stamped shapes, and a center perforation facilitates easy door panel installation. These pads can be used as a direct replacement for factory-installed sound deadening or as a new sound dampening solution. For optimal adhesion and conformability, the pads may be preheated to approximately 95-115°F, but should not be applied at temperatures below 40°F. Surface preparation is crucial for effective application. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil or grease. It is recommended to wash the surface with soap and water, followed by an appropriate VOC-compliant product to remove any remaining contaminants. If painting the pads is desired, the clear protective film should be removed first to ensure proper paint adhesion. Multiple pads can be stacked for increased sound deadening, provided the clear protective film is removed between layers. It is important to note that these 3M™ Sound Deadening Pads are intended for industrial/occupational use only and are not for consumer sale or use. The product is sold 10 per case and operates within a temperature range of -5°F to +160°F.
