The Chevrolet Performance SP350/357 Base Crate Engine offers an affordable path to enhanced performance for your project vehicle. It boasts 357 horsepower and 407 lb.-ft. of torque, leveraging the established benchmark of Chevrolet's 350 Small-Block. This engine is constructed with a robust cast-iron block featuring four-bolt mains and is equipped with economical Vortec iron cylinder heads and a hydraulic roller camshaft for improved driveability and airflow. This setup provides a 24-horsepower gain over the 350 HO crate engine, making it a compelling alternative to a full rebuild. This assembled long block includes the oil pan but requires additional components to complete the assembly. Users will need to source an intake manifold, carburetor, distributor, spark plug wires, and a water pump. A feed line from the fuel pump to the carburetor is also necessary. Installation notes specify that to achieve the listed horsepower and torque figures, a Holley 670-cfm 4-barrel carburetor (P/N 19420450) is recommended. The engine is not intended for marine applications. Additionally, the balancer and flexplate are not included with this base package and must be purchased separately.
