SP350/357 Crate Engine

The Chevrolet Performance SP350/357 Base Crate Engine offers an affordable performance upgrade for your project vehicle. It builds upon the legacy of the Chevrolet 350 Small-Block, providing 357 horsepower and a strong reserve of low-rpm torque. This engine is built with a new cast-iron block featuring four-bolt mains for enhanced strength and durability. This base crate engine package includes an assembled long block, complete with an oil pan, allowing you to customize the ignition system, induction system, and other accessories to your specific needs. It utilizes economical Vortec iron cylinder heads and a hydraulic roller camshaft, which optimizes both driveability and airflow capability. This configuration results in a 24-horsepower gain over the Chevrolet Performance 350 HO crate engine, making it an excellent alternative to a traditional rebuild. To achieve the listed horsepower and torque figures of 357 HP @ 5500 RPM and 407 lb-ft @ 4000 RPM, a Holley 670-cfm 4-barrel carburetor (P/N 19420450) is recommended. The assembly process requires additional components, including an intake manifold, carburetor, distributor, spark plug wires, and a water pump. A feed line from the fuel pump to the carburetor is also necessary. Please note that this engine is not intended for marine applications. Additionally, the balancer and flexplate are not included with this base package. Key specifications include a 5.7L displacement, a 4.000" bore and 3.480" stroke, a 9.0:1 compression ratio, and cast nodular iron crankshaft. The cylinder heads have 64cc chambers and 1.940" intake / 1.500" exhaust valves. The camshaft specifications are .473"/.473" valve lift and 215°/223° duration @ 0.050".
