This engine is designed for ease of installation, arriving as a turn-key unit with an aluminum intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and pre-installed HEI distributor and balancer. Key internal components include a forged steel crankshaft and powdered metal connecting rods, paired with cast aluminum pistons. The engine features a hydraulic roller camshaft for improved performance and durability, and it utilizes cast-iron cylinder heads with 64cc chambers. The recommended fuel is premium pump gas, and the ignition timing is set at 32° Total @ 4,000 rpm. The maximum recommended operating RPM is 5600. Additional considerations for installation include the requirement for a fuel supply line from the fuel pump to the carburetor. It comes with a 12.750" externally balanced 153-tooth automatic transmission flexplate; an externally balanced flywheel is required for manual transmission applications. This engine is not intended for marine applications. It is crucial to use a distributor with a melonized steel gear when pairing with long-blocks and partial engines that have steel camshafts to prevent engine damage.
