The LN Engineering 106-01 spin-on oil filter adapter is engineered to enhance engine longevity through a full-flow filtration system that eliminates the bypass valve. This means all oil is filtered, preventing re-contamination from debris that could be reintroduced by standard cartridge filters. By employing a conventional steel-bodied spin-on oil filter, this adapter allows for the potential reduction of engine wear, especially when used with a Filtermag to capture iron contaminants. Installation requires lubricating o-rings with clean engine oil, and the adapter should be hand-tightened to the block, then torqued to 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs) using a 26mm socket. The spin-on filter gasket should also be lubricated, and the filter installed hand-tight plus an additional 3/4 to 1 turn, or per manufacturer specifications. Pre-filling the oil filter is not recommended. For street use, oil change intervals should not exceed 6 months or 5,000 miles, with a recommended oil viscosity of 0w40 or 5w40, such as Driven DT40. A suitable filter replacement for this adapter is typically from a 1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette, like the Napa Gold 1042 or Wix 51042, known for its size and burst strength. For track applications, a Billet High Performance Oil Filter and race oil like Driven XP9 are required, with oil changes every 500 miles. It is important to note that this adapter does not fit GT3, Turbo, and GT2 Porsche 911 models. For specific model year ranges of Boxster, Cayman, and 911, other LN Engineering part numbers may be required. The adapter replaces Porsche part numbers 996 107 020 53 (54, 55) and 996-107-225-53.
