The Vargas Turbo "Spline Lock" Crank Hub Solution is engineered as a complete replacement for the stock crank hub on BMW N54, N55, and S55 engines. It addresses the known issue of crank hubs spinning on these engines without warning, even when the engine is in good health. Vargas Turbo's innovative Spline Lock Technology utilizes high-tolerance, precision-machined splines that press into the crankshaft, positively locking the hub in place without requiring any drilling or welding of the crankshaft. This design leverages rotational forces to drive the splines deeper into the crank, ensuring a secure fit. Constructed from robust 440C tool steel and heat-treated to a Rockwell hardness of HRC60, this crank hub is built for extreme conditions. It has undergone extensive development, including over ten prototype revisions, and rigorous in-house testing where it reportedly broke the testing rig before slipping. Real-world validation has been demonstrated on the VTT N54 race car, achieving 8,000 RPM and over 900 WHP.
