The Nankang Sportnex AR-1 is a refined track tire designed for enthusiasts focusing on lap time performance. It utilizes a unique semi-slick compound that reaches effective operating temperatures quickly, improving grip on demanding circuits. For sizes 17 inches and above, the tire incorporates a Kevlar lining to enhance stability and consistency during high-speed operation. It features an inner angled pattern to assist with wet-condition drainage and wide center ribs for precise steering performance. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, Nankang recommends a 'scrubbing-in' procedure for all new tires, involving a gradual increase in track speed over three to four laps before reaching full capacity. Tire tread temperatures should ideally be monitored between 71°C and 104°C, with an inside-to-outside shoulder delta not exceeding 20°C. The AR-1 is E-marked (ECE-30) and carries MSA List 1B approval. Compatibility is specific to certain high-performance vehicles, including 2008-2015 Audi R8 models, 2017-2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 variants, 2015-2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350/GT350R, and various Porsche 911 iterations such as the 2011-2012 Carrera GTS.
