ST-246 Twin Disc Clutch Kit

The Tilton 55-1004 ST-246 is a premium twin disc clutch kit engineered for the high-performance street market, drawing on Tilton's nearly 50 years of racing clutch expertise. Unlike conventional "performance clutches" that modify OEM components, the ST-246 is a purpose-built twin disc system designed for superior torque capacity, reduced wear, smooth engagement, and excellent drivability. This kit features a precision-machined aluminum clutch cover, derived from Tilton's championship-winning OT-Series racing clutches. It incorporates heavy-duty straps connecting the pressure plate and floater plate to effectively minimize noise. The clutch also includes a high-mass main pressure plate and floater plate, crafted from proprietary materials that offer high heat capacity and resistance to warpage. Customers can choose between two disc options to suit their needs. The sprung-hub organic disc option is ideal for street applications, featuring a dampened center hub to reduce drivetrain vibrations and gearbox noise, while reliably holding up to 850 lb-ft of torque. For those requiring more capacity for street/strip use, the solid-hub cerametallic disc option provides a more positive and precise engagement, capable of handling up to 1250 lb-ft of torque. All ST-246 kits come with a billet chromoly steel flywheel, known for its high strength and durability. This flywheel is precision-machined with a register to ensure optimal balance of the clutch/flywheel assembly. It is important to note that while most ST-246 kits can utilize the OEM release bearing, applications for Camaro GEN5 and Corvette C6 include a Tilton 6000-Series hydraulic release bearing. This kit is specifically designed to fit all LS engines equipped with a Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed or Tremec TKO 5-speed transmission.
