The Flyin' Miata Stage 1 airflow kit is engineered to enhance cooling efficiency for 1990-1993 Miatas equipped with upright radiators. The shroud's mounting position ensures that airflow is drawn across the entire radiator core, a critical factor for high-power applications. This kit utilizes a pair of Spal fans, selected for their robust airflow capabilities even under pressure, which is essential when pulling air through stacked heat exchangers like intercoolers and A/C condensers. While these fans draw a significant amount of power, they provide the necessary torque for effective cooling. The overall design results in a compact package that excels at cooling high-power Miatas. The airflow kit provides approximately 1200 CFM at 0.5 inH2O of pressure, designed to be effective even with just a radiator installed. Note that this kit is for non-crossflow radiators only, and a special kit is available for crossflow radiators. For automatic transmission-equipped vehicles, the transmission cooler fittings on stock-style radiators may need to be removed or modified to prevent interference with the shroud.
