The Cobb Stage 1 CAN Flex Fuel Power Package is a comprehensive performance upgrade designed for the 2018-2021 Subaru WRX. This package integrates the Cobb Accessport V3, a Cobb SF Intake System, and the Cobb CAN Flex Fuel Kit. The Accessport V3 serves as the control unit, dynamically adjusting the vehicle's calibration based on the real-time ethanol content detected in the fuel. The SF Intake replaces the factory airbox, designed to improve airflow and support Stage 1+ performance levels. The core of the flex fuel capability lies in the CAN Flex Fuel system. This system installs an ethanol content sensor in the fuel line to precisely measure the actual ethanol percentage in the tank, whether it's E85, E30, or any blend in between, including standard 93-octane gasoline. This measurement is transmitted to the Accessport, which then automatically adjusts fueling, ignition timing, and boost targets. This adaptive approach means drivers can utilize various ethanol blends without needing to manually switch between different calibration maps. Ethanol's higher effective octane rating and significant latent heat of vaporization offer performance advantages over gasoline. These properties allow for more aggressive ignition timing and cooler intake charge temperatures, reducing the risk of detonation. The flex fuel maps leverage these benefits to target higher boost levels and more aggressive timing than gasoline-only maps, resulting in a substantial power increase on E30 or higher ethanol blends. The system ensures this enhanced performance is readily accessible by automatically adapting to whatever fuel blend is present in the tank. Included components are the Cobb Accessport V3, Cobb SF Intake System, Cobb CAN Flex Fuel ethanol sensor kit, fuel line fittings and hardware, an OBD-II cable, a USB cable, two faceplates, and a universal mount. The system is specifically tailored for the 2018-2021 Subaru WRX with the FA20DIT engine, compatible with both Manual (MT) and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) models.
