The Stewart Components Stage 1 water pump is a high-flow, mechanical pump engineered for Small Block Chevy engines. Externally, it maintains stock dimensions and hose locations, making it compatible with stock lines and brackets. Internally, the Stage 1 pump is modified for enhanced performance and reliability. It features higher flow and pressure capabilities to provide superior cooling, especially beneficial for stock, OEM, or mild performance applications. Key internal components include a precision-ground dual-pattern fan hub for perfect pulley alignment and a precision impeller installed to exacting tolerances, ensuring optimal fluid dynamics. The pump utilizes a 5/8 inch shaft and a 3/4 inch bearing, with models featuring the larger bearings offering five times the strength of standard bearings. It also includes a special water/antifreeze compatible seal assembly and a zinc-plated rear cover bolt. The design is a short configuration suitable for V-belt systems with clockwise rotation.
