It delivers low-end grunt, helps the turbo spool sooner, and boosts airflow at lower RPMs, resulting in faster throttle response and improved drivability. It offers the best fuel economy of all Hamilton cam options, making it an excellent choice for towing and highway efficiency. The camshaft also helps reduce in-cylinder EGR, leading to cleaner combustion, and performs well at high altitudes. It is well-suited for daily-driven Cummins trucks with stock or mildly upgraded turbos and injectors. At its core, the 07-C-178/208 camshaft features short duration and a wide lobe separation angle. This design reduces valve overlap and minimizes in-cylinder EGR, which is particularly beneficial for trucks with stock turbochargers and restrictive turbine housings. Tested with an 80hp injector and 62mm turbo setup, it achieved a 40 horsepower gain at 1700 RPM, translating to quicker spool-up and better midrange performance.
