Stage 1 Turbo System

The Flyin' Miata Stage 1 turbo system is a complete forced induction solution designed for 1990-1993 Miata 1.6L engines, offering a significant, emissions-legal power increase. Once known as the Voodoo II, this system is ideal for those seeking an easy installation, safe and clean power, and substantial upgrade potential. It is CARB EO D-601-3 legal throughout the US, making it the only CARB-legal forced induction option for the 1.6L engine. The system aims to provide approximately 150-160 rear-wheel horsepower, up from the stock 93 hp, with power limited by the stock injectors. The newly redesigned manifolds feature staggered runner diameters and have undergone CFD testing, resulting in 24% greater flow, nearly 4.5 lbs less weight, and improved spool time and potential for higher power. These manifolds and the outlet are Cerakoted in C-7900 Glacier Titanium, rated for 1,800°F. The included intercooler is powder-coated for durability and aesthetics, with special thermal properties to efficiently shed heat. The Voodoo Box manages the fuel system by modifying the signal under boost, eliminating the need for tuning, high-pressure fuel pumps, or fuel line upgrades; the car behaves stock at idle and cruise. Specific options are available for 1993 California (sequential injection) and non-California (batch injection) models. The turbocharger is a GT2560R, chosen for its balance of low-end boost and top-end performance. It is secured with custom-made Inconel studs and Stage 8 fasteners. While technically compatible with the stock ECU and automatic transmission, modifications to the downpipe will be necessary for automatic bellhousing clearance, and drivability issues may arise; therefore, it is not recommended for automatic cars. A new clutch is required, and cars used for track driving or in hot climates will benefit from a radiator upgrade.
