Stage 1 Turbo System

The Flyin' Miata Stage 1 turbo system is a comprehensive forced induction upgrade designed specifically for the 1990-1993 Mazda Miata 1.6L engine. This system, once known as the Voodoo II, offers an easy installation path to significantly increased horsepower, with an approximate output of 150-160 rear-wheel horsepower compared to the stock 93 hp. It is the only CARB legal forced induction option for the 1.6L Miata, holding CARB EO D-601-3, making it emissions legal across the US. The system boasts newly redesigned manifolds utilizing CFD testing, featuring staggered runner diameters for consistent exhaust pulse timing, leading to faster spool and improved power potential. These manifolds, along with the outlet, are Cerakoted in C-7900 Glacier Titanium and rated for 1,800°F. The included intercooler features a durable powder coating with special thermal properties and can be mounted with the FM logo facing forward or backward. Included hardware comprises every necessary part, eliminating the need for additional trips to the hardware store. The Voodoo Box calibrates the fuel system without requiring manual tuning or a high-pressure fuel pump, allowing the car to maintain stock drivability at idle and cruise. The turbocharger is a Garrett GT2560R, chosen for its balance of low-end boost and top-end performance. The kit uses custom Inconel studs and Stage 8 fasteners for secure turbo mounting. Users should be aware of several considerations for optimal performance and longevity. A new, stronger clutch is recommended. For track use or in hot climates, a radiator upgrade is advised. While technically compatible with automatic transmissions, modifications to the downpipe will be necessary, and drivability issues may arise, thus it is not recommended for automatic cars. Monitoring boost levels is crucial, especially if not using a wideband gauge, to avoid overboosting which can be handled by the wastegate. If an FM coolant reroute is in use, a connection kit is required. The kit assumes the original engine is present; engine swaps may require contacting tech support for correct parts. Required tools include a 37/64" drill bit and a 3/8" NPT tap.
