The Vargas Turbo Technologies Stage 1 turbocharger upgrade provides a reliable, high-performance solution for N54 engines. By utilizing the original BMW/Mitsubishi turbo housings, these units maintain seamless compatibility with stock plumbing and intake components while addressing the frequent wastegate rattle caused by factory actuator arm tension loss. Each assembly is rebuilt with enhanced internals, including a larger high-flow cast compressor wheel and a durable stainless steel actuator arm design. To maximize performance, this kit supports up to 525 whp depending on supporting modifications. Custom N54 tuning is recommended to properly calibrate the engine for these upgraded turbos. For long-term reliability, the use of high ZDDP-content engine oil is advised to protect the turbo bearings under high-stress conditions. Note that this product is not for sale or use in the state of California on any pollution-controlled vehicle as per the California Air Resources Board. Installation requires professional handling, and it is recommended to replace peripheral hardware using an appropriate installation kit.
