The ATS Diesel ATS Stage 2 42RLE Transmission Package is a comprehensive performance transmission solution engineered for 4WD 2007-2011 Jeep 3.8L models. This package is designed to overcome the inherent weaknesses of the stock 42RLE transmission, which struggles with the demands of modifications such as larger tires, increased power, extreme off-roading, and heavy towing. Key enhancements include a redesigned pump assembly featuring an oversized gearset for superior cooling and lubrication to the torque converter and gearset, mitigating common failure points caused by excessive heat. The TruLok Torque Converter boasts a billet cover, heavy-duty carbon composite lock-up clutch, and hardened pump and turbine splines for increased durability. The planetary gearset is reinforced to prevent pinion deflection, a common cause of failure. Internally, the transmission receives upgraded high-performance clutch plates and steel separator plates, with an increased clutch count in the Over Drive pack to maximize torque capacity. The valve body undergoes extensive modification, including ported hydraulic oil flow and redesigned accumulator piston seals, to ensure precise shift timing and hydraulic pressure integrity. An ATS Deep Transmission Pan is included, which acts as a girdle to strengthen the transmission case and improve cooling with its finned design. Crucially, the ATS Co-Pilot Transmission Controller is a required component for this package. It dynamically controls line pressure and internal clutch timing, commanding up to 155 PSI to enhance clutch pack holding force and converter clutch engagement, essential for modified engines or larger tires. The Co-Pilot is necessary due to the 42RLE's factory TCM design, which can experience radical pressure variations with other aftermarket tuning methods. An ATS Auxiliary Transmission Cooler is also included to further combat overheating, extending transmission lifetime.
