This camshaft offers a significant increase in horsepower and torque while maintaining good drivability and a noticeable idle chop.

The Texas Speed & Performance L83V2-Stg2 camshaft is the latest iteration in their L83 camshaft lineup, specifically designed for Gen V 5.3L L83 engines. This Stage 2 camshaft boasts revised lobes for increased power and improved valve spring life, resulting in quieter valvetrain operation compared to previous versions. With specifications of 218/230 duration, .610/.610 lift, and a 113 LSA with a 109 ICL, this camshaft is engineered to deliver a substantial boost in horsepower and torque. Dyno testing has shown gains of 69hp and 24 ft-lbs of torque at the crank. It is designed for an operating RPM range of 1600-6400, offering good drivability with a distinctive idle chop. Installation of this camshaft requires several supporting modifications. A DOD/AFM delete kit is necessary as it does not retain the factory cylinder deactivation functionality. An aftermarket torque converter with a recommended stall speed of 2600-2800 RPM is also required. For optimal performance and reliability, it is recommended to use Manton conical valve springs or the TSP dual .660 spring kit. A phaser lockout is also required for proper installation.
