It utilizes a Graphite Impregnated Ceramic friction material, known for its durability, reduced chatter, heat transfer, and torque capacity. The South Bend Clutch Stage 2 Drag Clutch Kit (Part# K70465F-HD-DXD-B) is engineered for demanding performance driving, particularly drag racing. This kit replaces the original dual-mass flywheel with a single-mass SFI-approved unit, a requirement for drag racing applications. It includes a Heavy Duty Pressure Plate that has been modified to work with a puck-style disc, featuring no cushioning between linings. This design contributes to a shorter and quicker clutch pedal travel, allowing for faster shifts. The puck design of the disc reduces rotational mass and the total drive surface area, while increasing the pounds per square inch on the friction material. This combination effectively minimizes inertia, which accelerates the transfer of torque from the engine to the wheels, providing a more immediate response. For its friction material, this race-application kit employs a Graphite Impregnated Ceramic compound. This material was chosen for its superior performance in testing, demonstrating excellent durability, reduced chatter, efficient heat transfer, and high torque capacity compared to other friction materials. The recommended uses for this clutch kit are drag racing, drifting, and limited street driving. This clutch kit is compatible with various 2009-2017 Volkswagen Tiguan models equipped with the 2.0T engine, including both 4Motion and FWD variants.
