Stage 2 Intercooler

The AIRTEC Stage 2 Intercooler is a performance upgrade for the Ford Focus mk2 ST225, engineered for track or fast road use. It utilizes a new high-flow 60mm core and redesigned end tanks to increase power, torque, and lower charge air temperatures (ATC). Featuring an air ram scoop derived from their RS Intercooler, this unit forces air directly into the core for enhanced cooling efficiency. The core itself is significantly larger than the stock intercooler, offering twice the height and nearly 100mm more length, resulting in a 127% increase in frontal area and a substantial capacity improvement. This design minimizes weight on the radiator mounts, unlike some other alloy intercoolers. The intercooler is available in Pro-Series Satin Black or Clean Silver finishes, with options for AIRTEC logo colour. Dyno tests conducted by Torque of the Devil on 31/01/2009 showed an increase from the standard intercooler's 275 bhp and 350 lb-ft torque to 296.4 bhp and 390 lb-ft torque with the AIRTEC Gen 3 intercooler. Outlet temperatures also dropped significantly, from 66 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius, while inlet temperatures remained comparable (144°C vs 148°C).
