Stage 2 Little Big Brake Kit

The Flyin' Miata NA/NB Stage 2 Little Big Brake Kit is engineered to significantly enhance your Miata's braking performance for street and autocross applications. Up front, the stock single-piston iron calipers are replaced with lightweight, stiff aluminum four-piston Powerlite calipers. These calipers provide even pad pressure across the 5 square inch pad area and maintain stock pedal feel due to properly sized 1.38" pistons. This upgrade results in a 4 lb weight saving per side. In the rear, the kit utilizes Powerlite calipers with 1" pistons, which generate increased braking power, shifting the balance towards the rear. Buyers can choose between two distinct rear caliper configurations. Option 1 is a built-in parking brake caliper, which is less expensive and lighter (approximately 3 lbs per corner saving), though its parking brake function is noted as weak. Option 2 features two separate calipers per rear wheel: a four-piston Powerlite for primary braking and a mechanical MC4 for a robust parking brake. This option adds a slight weight penalty of about 0.5 lbs per corner but ensures a functional handbrake and is SCCA legal for many race classes. The built-in parking brake option offers a total unsprung weight reduction of 14 lbs. This kit is designed to integrate with either the stock 10" (1994-02) or 11" (2001-05 Sport) rotor sizes, though rotors are not included. The calipers are finished in hard-anodized grey, noted for durability but with the possibility of slight shade variations between components. The kit also includes stainless braided brake lines front and rear, and an optional FM proportioning valve for fine-tuning brake balance. Note that 2001-05 ABS-equipped cars utilize electronic brake distribution and may require the proportioning valve option to be deleted. Specific parking brake cables are included for the built-in version, while the separate caliper version reuses stock cables. These brake lines are specific to the kit and will not work with existing stainless lines for stock calipers. The kit generally fits under most 15" wheels, but factory 14" wheels are not compatible due to the parking brake caliper. Flyin' Miata includes Wilwood BP-20X compound pads in the front and BP-10 pads in the rear, suitable for street and light track use. For dedicated track performance, upgraded pads such as BP-30 are recommended as the stock BP-10 pads may overheat during intense track sessions. This kit fits model years 1990-1997 and 1999-2005, including MSM variants.
