The South Bend Stage 3 Daily clutch kit is engineered to reliably deliver power to the street for high-horsepower VW Mk8 GTI and Golf R models. This kit features a Race Engineered (SS) and SFI-approved pressure plate that provides a significant load increase over lower stages, coupled with a Performance Organic friction material. This combination offers a robust torque capacity of 500 ft-lb, suitable for daily driving, spirited street use, and occasional track applications. The disc is constructed with heat-treated wear-resistant hubs and springs, offering dual dampening for an OE-like start performance, while the high metal content in the friction material enhances torque and RPM capabilities and maintains low operating temperatures. Key specifications include a single mass steel flywheel, which contributes to the overall performance and is SFI approved. Note that single-mass flywheels may produce slight noise at idle, which is normal and does not affect functionality. The kit also includes a flywheel hardware kit and a throw-out bearing. Expect a pedal effort increase of approximately 20%-25% compared to the stock clutch. South Bend recommends replacing the rear main seal during clutch installation on VW TSI engines, as these seals are prone to leaking. This proactive measure saves labor costs by addressing a common issue while the transmission is already removed.
