The Techtonics 252.460 is a stainless steel cat-back exhaust system engineered to enhance exhaust flow and performance for 1999 and newer Volkswagen Golf IV and New Beetle 1.8T models. Built with 2.5-inch diameter stainless steel tubing, this system replaces the restrictive factory components with a higher-flowing design that utilizes either a Borla or Magnaflow muffler to optimize backpressure and sound. Installation requires specific hardware and vehicle modification, as the OEM exhaust system is a single-piece unit that must be cut for removal. The system requires a Techtonics downpipe (251 234) or a compatible downpipe adapter (253 460EA/252 460EA) for proper fitment. Included in the kit are a center section with resonator, a muffler, a tailpipe, and all necessary mounting hardware, including specific colored hanger assemblies (blue, red, yellow) and retaining clips to prevent sway. Professional installation or careful adherence to torque specifications—limited to 12 ft. lbs. for clamps and 18 ft. lbs. for cross-member bolts—is recommended to ensure proper chassis clearance.
