The MAP STM Coil-On-Plug (COP) Ignition System is engineered as a significant upgrade for the 2006 Mitsubishi Evo 9, featuring genuine R35 GTR NGK coils capable of supporting up to 800 horsepower. This system is ideal for enthusiasts pushing the limits of their current ignition setup and is designed for modified vehicles with power outputs between 400 and 800 HP. This ignition system is proudly USA-Made, ensuring quality craftsmanship. The harness construction utilizes military-grade Tefzel Teflon wire and Stay-Clean wire sheathing for enhanced durability and water resistance. It is mounted on a robust carbon fiber plate, complemented by stainless and aluminum hardware, offering both aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance. The system replaces the factory two-coil setup with four individual coils, delivering a hotter spark that promotes a more efficient fuel burn, extends spark plug life by reducing fouling, and allows for a wider spark plug gap for optimal combustion. Designed for seamless integration, the system is plug-and-play and compatible with the stock ECU, as well as popular aftermarket engine management systems including AEM EMS V1 & V2, Haltech, MegaSquirt, and SunAuto Hyperforce. However, it is explicitly stated that this system will NOT work with CDI boxes or the HKS DLI. Installation requires replacing the factory 10A fuse in the interior fuse box (driver side, under dash, top left, red fuse, #1 position) with the included 15A fuse, as the ignition system draws more power than the stock fuse can handle.
