The Cloyes 9-3508X9 High Performance Timing Set is a robust and adjustable timing chain kit designed for superior street performance in Ford FE engines, such as the 390 FE. It features billet steel camshaft and crankshaft sprockets, both heat-treated for enhanced durability. The crankshaft sprocket offers nine keyways, allowing for precise timing adjustments of +/- 8 degrees. A key highlight is the "Z" chain, a seamless TRUE Roller chain with a 0.250" roller diameter, providing reduced friction and approximately 33% increased strength over standard high-performance chains. This "Z" chain incorporates a press-fit center link design for improved load distribution and heat-treated, processed links to maximize breaking strength while maintaining ductility and fatigue life. The kit is a 3-piece set, hand-matched for correct center distance and minimal runout, and includes a captured needle camshaft sprocket thrust bearing to minimize friction against the block thrust surface, ensuring quiet, maintenance-free operation and optimal performance.
