The BMW Genuine Parts strut tower cap, part number 31312229458, is a direct replacement for select M3 models. It is part of the front strut assembly and suspension system, which includes components similar to shock absorbers with integrated spring perches that dampen spring rebound and control ride quality. Worn strut components, including this cap, often need to be replaced in pairs. The 31312229458 strut tower cap is compatible with the following BMW M3 models (E46 chassis): Base Convertible and Base Coupe with 3.2L L6 engines from 2001 through 2006.
