The Sun Coast SC-48-5 Category 5 48RE Rebuild Kit With Torque Converter is designed to reinforce the stock transmission in 2003-2007 Dodge 5.9L Diesel 4WD vehicles. This high-performance kit includes improvements to the band, band actuation, servos, accumulator piston, direct drum, larger input shaft, larger output shaft, intermediate shaft, flex plate, and torque converter. Both the forward and direct drum are constructed from heat-treated 4140 stress-relieved billet steel. The input shaft is upgraded to a larger 27-spline one-piece design constructed from heat-treated 300 maraging billet steel. The output shaft is upgraded to a heavier duty heat-treated 29-spline 300M billet shaft that is tested to withstand up to 1,400 lb-ft of torque. The weak factory flex plate is replaced with a billet one-piece unit that exceeds 29.3 SFI certifications. This rebuild kit also includes a heavy-duty 27-spline torque converter with a 2,000 RPM stall speed. The Sun Coast Triple Disc Torque Converter is lined with carbon-graphitic clutch material and equipped with a precision CNC-machined billet apply piston to ensure no deflection occurs.
