The SunCoast Category 4 5R110 transmission is a high-performance unit engineered for applications exceeding 700 horsepower. It integrates a new 9C pump from Ford, all new Ford solenoids, and features both an upgraded Aeromet intermediate shaft and a billet intermediate shaft for enhanced durability. The pump and valve body are custom-tuned to competition specifications. Key improvements include an updated, wider, and thicker low/reverse snap ring to prevent dislodgement, and a proprietary "No Walk Center Support" design that mitigates case distortion and misalignment of fluid feed holes, a common issue in the standard Torqshift. Additionally, it incorporates a "wide load" direct clutch pack constructed from SunCoast SCZ carbon graphitic material, combined with wider steel and apply plates, significantly increasing the clutch's torque capacity. A Mag-Hytec pan is included as standard to further boost case rigidity and reduce torsional flexing.
