The 6L80 transmission was introduced in 2006 by GM, featuring a 32-bit controller and variable-bleed solenoids. This Category 1 rebuild kit enhances the Category 0 kit with a Sonnax Zip Kit and an upgraded 4-5-6 piston and backing plate assembly. It includes Raybestos GPZ Clutch Packs designed for high-stress applications, providing superior durability and increased torque/heat capacity. The Sonnax Zip Kit addresses critical pressure losses in the 6L45, 6L50, 6L80, and 6L90 valve bodies. The Sonnax 4-5-6 clutch apply piston kit (104960-01K) strengthens the 4-5-6 clutch assembly to prevent common failures associated with OE design shortcomings.
