This SunCoast Category 3 rebuild kit is designed for the Ford 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission to significantly enhance its performance and durability. The kit features Raybestos GPZ friction plates, which offer increased torque capacity, higher heat resistance, and improved shift feel compared to OEM materials. It addresses known weaknesses in the "D", "E", and "F" clutch packs by increasing clutch capacity (e.g., from 5 to 6 clutches in the "E" pack, and 4 to 5 in the "F" pack) and utilizing improved friction material. The kit also includes a newly designed thermal flow control filter with dual-media filtration for superior debris capture. A key component is the SunCoast Pro Loc Valve Body and Pump, which aims to decrease torque converter clutch (TCC) lock-up time and improve oiling circuits, leading to quicker apply times and reduced TCC clutch degradation, especially beneficial in high-demand driving conditions like heavy towing, hauling, street racing, and drag racing.
