The Ford Performance M-6049-SCJ Super Cobra Jet Cylinder Head is a bare, unassembled aluminum cylinder head designed for Ford 429 and 460ci Big Block engines, excluding the BOSS 429. The combustion chambers are configured to accommodate more centrally located valves, and it utilizes a production 429 Cobra Jet intake and exhaust manifold bolt pattern, as well as the production Ford 429/460 valve cover bolt pattern.

The Ford Performance M-6049-SCJ Super Cobra Jet Cylinder Head is a bare, unassembled aluminum component engineered for enhanced performance in Ford 429 and 460ci Big Block engines, with the exception of the BOSS 429 variant. The combustion chambers have been redesigned to better accommodate the more centrally positioned valves, contributing to overall efficiency. This head is designed for compatibility with production 429 Cobra Jet intake and exhaust manifolds, as well as the standard Ford 429/460 valve cover bolt pattern. It comes equipped with 2.200" intake valves and 1.76" exhaust valves, and specifications include 72cc combustion chambers, 290cc intake runner volume, and 148cc exhaust runner volume. The product is recommended to be used with Ford Performance Valve Covers M-6582-C460, rocker arm part numbers M-6564-A460, and Motorcraft AGSP series spark plugs. When replacing existing Ford Performance or production 429 Cobra Jet heads, it is important to note that new intake valve notches may be required. For proper sealing, Felpro® exhaust gasket part number 1420 and Felpro® intake gasket part number 1231 are recommended. While the product is listed as universal and compatible with various Ford engines, it is crucial for installers to verify fitment for specific applications. Additionally, users should consult the installation instructions for any necessary modifications or considerations prior to installation.
